What Information do I Collect?

Depending on which website you use, I collect several different types of information:

Information that you provide for specific purposes e.g. email addresses, publication mailing address, and contact information.

Transitory information - that you provide to enable me to give you appropriate information e.g. typing a search query into a search box.

Stored information - that you provide to enable you to logon and reuse site facilities such as membership areas.

To safeguard your data, I keep to strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to your details.

This includes, but no limited to, both software AND hardware firewall's where appropriate. Servers hosted in secure server rooms with no un-authorised access.
 

Email & Newsletter Services

If you register for any of my email newsletters and email auto responder services I will ask you to provide some basic details about yourself and the areas of the website you are interested in being notified about and which information is relevant for you in my newsletters.

At any time you remove your subscription, simply click on "un-subscribe" link at the bottom of each email and newsletter.

Please remember that any emails that you send to me will pass over the public network and this cannot be assumed to be secure. However, once I receive your email I will treat the information it contains as confidential.

Forms

Data collected from any form on the site(s) is stored on a secure server and is only available to me. Each form has an explicit privacy statement that explains what the collected data will be used for; this has to be agreed to before any information can be submitted.

Website Usage Statistics

I collect website usage information in order to measure the success of the site and improve my service to users. All data collected is anonymous.

My web servers logs all requests to the website and also logs your Internet Protocol (IP) address and the domain name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), none of your personal details can be derived from this information.

I also use cookies and JavaScript to gather non-personal data regarding visits to pages on the site, the duration of individual page view, paths taken by visitors through the site, any repeat visits, data on visitors' screen settings and other general information.

Glossary

Internet Protocol (IP) is the address issued to your computer by your Internet Service Provider when you log onto to the Internet. It will look something like this 167.154.76.5.

Internet Service Provider (ISP) is the company that provides your access to the Internet.

Cookies are small text files that are often created when you visit a website, and are stored in the cookie directory of your browser. I use cookies to track traffic through my sites and repeat visits. You can accept or reject cookies by changing you browser settings; this will not affect your ability to view this site.

JavaScript is a simple web scripting language. I use JavaScript to collect anonymous web usage information and provide simple interactive tools.
