What Causes The Windows 800706BA Error
A quick scan of the online technical forums and blogs reveal folks asking for help with this windows error.
Your question may be the same as this typical request:
"I have suddenly developed a problem with updating my Vista PC. After I restart my PC, a Windows Update dialog box appears. This dialog box contains the following message:"
Some Updates were not installed
Failed: xx updates
Error(s) Found:
Code: 800706BA

800706BA - Resolution Suggestion One:
To manually resolve this issue take the following steps:
Enable the "View Hidden Files option"
To do this:
Click the Vista Start button, click Control Panel, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab. Now Click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.
As a "System Administrator", locate the following folder:
Programdata\Microsoft\Network\Downloader folder
...and then delete ALL files that have a file name that begins with Qmgr
To do this:
type \Programdata\Microsoft\network\downloader in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
In the Downloader window, select and then delete any files that begin with Qmgr. For example, delete the following files:
Qmgr0.dat
Qmgr1.dat
Please Note: If the files are NOT deleted, restart the computer in "Safe Mode without networking" and try the steps above again.
If the files are deleted successfully, immediately open Windows Update from the Vista Start Menu, and then install the latest updates!
800706BA - Resolution Suggestion Two:
If the above manual option is too much to face, use this tool from Microsoft:
Microsoft have created a BITS Repair Tool that will help you fix a problem caused by the corruption of BITS state files. Use this tool to resolve the corruption and re-enable BITS transfers. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
The BITS Repair Tool is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:
Windows Vista, 32-bit versions - Download the BITS Repair Tool.
Windows Vista, 64-bit versions - Download the BITS Repair Tool.
...and that should have now resolved the 800706BA error for you!
